Capt. Don Gilman – Bio
Don grew up fishing, surfing and boating the waters off Palm Beach and cruising extensively throughout the Bahamas. He graduated with an arts degree from University of Florida, and an MBA from New York University.
After working in diverse professions including the Film Business, Wall Street, and New York Real Estate, he joined the family Yacht Brokerage business in 1990. He oversaw the expansion of the brokerage business to six offices at one point and led it to become the exclusive East Coast Distributor for Horizon Yachts in Taiwan for ten years. The latter resulted in building and importing 43 projects (62’-130’) at valued over $200M.
Don holds a USCG 100 Ton Captain’s license and has worked on commercial environmental projects like the BP Oil cleanup in the Gulf, Snook Islands II in the ICW Lake Worth and Storm Sandy remediation in Hempstead Bay, New York.
He is currently a licensed Yacht Broker and holds a USCG 100 ton master Captain's license. He is active in Yacht Brokerage, and personally runs his own charter boat, the Killer Bee. He also currently operating a tug and barge for supplying the new Southern Blvd ICW bridge project in Palm Beach.
